Looking forward to festive feasting? Let's make sure that planet Earth can join the party!

From January 1, a new law comes into force in France that will make business throw away less and recycle more. That's good news and, as we get into the winter holiday season, it's a good moment to think what we can all do at home to make less waste.

Did you know that each of us dumps about 100 kilograms of food into the bin each year? That's a lot more than you weigh! And food waste, when it's rotting away in dumps, is responsible for about 8 percent of the greenhouse gases that are causing global warming.

Now, just think how much the typical family can waste over the festive period... But let's not spoil the party - all that rubbish just shows that we can all make a big difference by doing quite small things. Let's make sure our home planet enjoys the next couple of weeks as much as we do.

We've spoken to an expert, Sarah Chouraqui, who works on the waste-busting app Too Good To Go. And she has top tips in our WoW! News app.
